Now that England’s World Cup qualifying campaign has come to a close without losing a single game, we can turn our attentions to what might happen in Russia next summer – and I don’t mean hooligan warfare on the blood-stained streets of Moscow.
Despite the Three Lions escaping their group with a record of eight wins and two draws, it wasn’t exactly the most convincing campaign from England – who clearly still have a lot of work to do if they’re to avoid another early exit from an international tournament.
Indeed, very few players appear nailed on for a starring role in England’s squad next summer – perhaps excepting the likes of Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, who Transfermarkt value at £27million – meaning there’s plenty of places still up for grabs.
